Pictures of Faces Found on Slates in Cave in France

Pictures of human faces were found on slabs of stone in the La Marche cave in France. They were discovered in 1937. At first, people questioned their authenticity, but now they are thought to be authentic. They date back to the paleolithic. The faces are known for their realism, and show a variety of faces. Some engravings seem to depict clothing too! They are hard to make out, as some are superimposed over each other. There are 155 lifelike human figures and other animals like horses, bears, and antelope. This find is very significant, as these are thought to be some of the oldest depictions of human faces and may date back 1500 years! To learn more, check out:
