Journals Through History

Journals through history are interesting videos about Ancient Civilizations geared toward children. They were made by the Discovery channel. They cover civilizations like Mesopotamia, Rome, Greece, China, and India. They are half live-action and half cartoons. They present Ancient civilizations in an engaging way for children. I liked the one on Mesopotamia the best! It was about the invention of writing and the Epic of Gilgamesh. History is trying to be presented in a more engaging way for people these days. Before, documentaries were pretty dry. I think that the problem with engaging people to like history is that in history classes, most memories are of just doing route memorization of facts and dates. Often times, the stories are a lot more interesting, as learning the context of an event makes it more like a story.
